The Bowen Center for the Arts Culinary Arts Exhibit Awards

The Bowen Center for the Arts held their Culinary Arts Awards Reception September 7th. Over $500 in prizes were given for both the fine arts and photography categories. These prizes included Gift certificates from B&H Photo Supply, Hobby Lobby, The Tomato House of Murrayville and of course, the new Bowen Gift Shop. This exhibit runs until September 21.

The Bowen judging panel awarded the following:

In the Fine Arts category:

First Place to Carol Sheder of Jasper for her still life oil Leeks & Tropical Bowl.

Second Place and Honorable Mention went to Rosie Coleman of Athens for her vivid oil still lifes Fruit and Cups and Turnip Trio.

Third Place and Honorable Mention went to Wanda Smith of Dahlonega for her beautiful chiaroscuro oil Pears Fresh from Tree and Pitcher & Pears.

Honorable Mention also went to Mary Bogle of Gainesville for her amusing More Carrots Please!

 In the Photography category:

First Place and Honorable Mention went to Kathleen Gill of Jasper for her beauty Four Part Harmony and Onion Study.

Third Place to Tom Reed of Dawsonville for his unique double canvas Apples.

Bob Kelly of Canton his unique light study Winefest

Stephen Weiss of Atlanta for his luscious work on metal Berry Berry Nice.

Admission is free to The Bowen Center for the Arts located just North of Dawsonville’s Historic Square at 334 Highway 9 North. The Gallery and Gift Shop are open Tuesday to Friday 10 to 4 and Saturday Noon to 4.
