The Bowen Center for the Arts, Georgia ForestWatch and The Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club are hosts for the Appalachian Mountain Treasures Photo Show which will be on display at The Bowen March 3 to April 13, 2018.
Visitors can tour over 134 photographs of Appalachian mountain forests and communities. This 250 million year old mountain range is the second oldest in North America. Even if you haven’t hiked these mountain and regions, you can experience these incredible vistas in the charming Bowen gallery.
This juried event attracted 66 Southeastern professional and amateur photographers to compete for over $3,500 in prizes and awards. Sponsors for this event include The Dobbs Fund, The Bowen Center for the Arts, North Georgia Community Foundation, Mohawk Carpet Foundation, Georgia Chapter of the Sierra Club, Len Foote Hike Inn and Patagonia.
Judges for this event are professionals Larry Winslett of Dahlonega, GA, Peter McIntosh of Clayton, GA and Horace Hamilton of Duluth, GA. They created a one of a kind show of over 126 works from the 253 entries received. These judges will also have work on display.
Don’t miss this show. Come tour the Appalachian at The Bowen Center for the Arts located at 334 Highway 9 North, Dawsonville, just north of the historic square. The Bowen Art Center hours are Tuesday through Friday 10-4 and Saturday 12-4. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
